Goodbye RachellaBlogs!

Wait! Don't worry! I'm not leaving completely.

So after consideration I have decided to change my blog, I no longer want to be known as 'RachellaBlogs' purely because I feel as if it takes away my individuality. Although Rachella is a name my friends genuinely call me I feel the blog name 'RachellaBlogs' is too similar to 'Zoella', Despite having no intention on making the similarity to her name I feel as if the similarity is there. I do not wish to have any sign of 'copying' her so with that i am stopping writing 'RachellaBlogs'. However I have now created a new blog called 'RachelNicoleM' which will give me my own individuality as a blogger. It will also allow me to start again from a more professional side of things...this means better quality posts including better quality pictures! I will also be able to take a more lifestyle view on the blog which i felt had been lost, as well as incorporating a lot more.

So...

I really hope you guys stick with me on this change, and those who don't, thank you for being apart of my first steps to blogging. It means alot!

Dare to Bare

It's all good and well for fashion and beauty bloggers to promote make up and telling you looks you can try and what products are the best however in this society we need more concern out there about the effect makeup is taking over girls.

The other day i came across this photo above. What does it suggest to you? To me it is a representation of girls and woman in today's society. We feel we must plaster on makeup to look attractive and without it we just feel bare and ugly. You get girls wearing makeup at such a young age. I started wearing it in year 8 but there was even girls plastering it on before that. Once i got in the habit of wearing makeup i felt as if i couldnt not wear it. Applying it on days that i wouldnt leave the house. It was even rare for my family to see me without it. To me it became my mask. Without it i felt ugly and would hide away...is this really what we want of girls in today's society? To be un able to be comfortable in their own skin?

We'll i say dare to bare. What happened to natural beauty? Why show people what you can look like with makeup on 24/7 if you can show them what YOU look like?

I am no longer afraid of people seeing me makeupless...what even is that? To be scared of someone seeing the real you? Is that really worth being scared over? Why not rock both looks? I love experiementing with makeup looks, and i will continue to but i also love the days where i bare my face and be natural and confident.

So don't be afraid to be makeupless, it doesn't make you any less beautiful. Its time to be confident with and without makeup.

Halloween Nails - Blood

Halloween is approaching quickly. The shops are full of spooky bits and bobs for scary halloween outfits! But what about nails? Don't go forgetting to decorate these too! Give them a spooky approach, to go with your outfit, with this nail art: Blood Nails!

This is probably the most simple yet effective halloween nail art to date. The blood nails! All you need is a light base colour and a red nail varnish to create the blood effect. Its simple to draw on using the brush, you don't need any special equipment.

Step 1: paint the base coat (optional)

Step 2: Paint the light base colour

Step 3: Use the red nail varnish to paint the blood onto the nails from the rim in droplets as displayed in the image

Step 4: paint a clear top coat

DONE!

Beauty Tips: Green Tea

Over the past month i have been absolutely obsessed with Green Tea, i have at least 3 mugs a day. Not only is it a perfect drink for the cold weather but it is so good for your skin and health. Although my skin has always been relatively decent, i have seen an improvement. My skin is soft and clear and has a healthy glow. I only currently have one blemish but i'm pretty sure its a bite from the mosquito that attacked me the other day so that doesn't count.

The green tea i have been drinking is Clipper Green Tea with Lemon. Out of all the Green Tea's i have had it is probably my favourite. Next time you are out shopping. buy it. I insist! Green Tea has so many good effects to it and is a cheap way of getting amazing skin and a healthier diet rather than buying all these random face products. Give it a go. It's worth a try.

A Small AW Haul

With summer gone as fast as it arrived, autumn is here and winter is quickly following. I am a massive lover of Autumn: the leaves, the smell of smoke, comfy jumpers and hot drinks. Most of all though. The AW collections. The time of Tartan! I am a massive fan of Tartan clothing and have been since i was in year 7. So when i hit the shops was it really that much of a shock that i aquired a few tartan items?

Here is what i got:

Tartan Peter Pan Collared Shirt - Primark - £6

Monocrome Top - Primark - £8

Tartan Skater Skirt - Primark - £8

Black Beanie - Primark - £2

Infinity Necklace - New Look - £2.99

Boat Party On The Thames

Not exactly beauty or fashion based as i forgot to get decent photos of my outfit, silly Rachel, but on the 27th September i got all dolled up for a boat party on the Thames. It was fantastic. I felt so powerful leaning on the rails of the boat dressed all classy, as if i was in a James Bond film, and yes...we did do the Jack and Rose scene from Titanic...how can you not!

But anyway here are a few photos from the night which show just how beautiful it was:

Red Lips!

Currently i havent been obsessed with red lipstick. I don't know if its because of Taylor Swift or because of 50's makeup or what but i love love love it! It is so bold and brings a statement to you're look as well as giving you the impression that you are not afraid to stand out! Not many people are daring enough to wear bright lipstick but i am all for it! I love the look!

The lipstick in the photo is Rimmel London Valentine No.12. This is possibly the brightest colour red i have ever seen in my life, it is so bold and the pigment it extreamly strong! You can just tell instantly! Infact i found the colour last nearly a whole day! Yes it fades a tiny bit but is still rather strong through out. There is no need to top it up. I adore it!

This is definately one of my favourite lipsticks! Be prepared to see this alot in future. Especially around christmas time ;D

Mother Of Pink!!!

So here is my first requested post. I really hope it meets expectation and helps out quite abit:

Pink outfits can be tricky to style to an extent. This can be down to the shade of the colour to the colour combinations. For example a bright pink can look eye catching and make an outfit come alive and playful however a more pastel shade of pink gives a mature, relaxed vibe. So without futher ado here are 3 examples of how i would style the colour pink.

1. A Night Out

For a night out you want to keep it bright and bold. Isn't that the point of dressing up? To be eye catching? This is a chance to use vibrant shades of pink. Dress up that plain LBD with a pair of bright pink heels and a matching purse and you are ready to hit the club, but to keep it interesting you can always add a contrasting colour such as blue or yellow.

Outfit details:

Clutch bag - New Look - £13 (no longer in stock)

2. Cute 'n' Casual

This outfit is alot more laid back than the one above and below. Perfect for a day out shopping to a relaxed cinema date. The combinations of white/cream and pink gives not only a girly vibe but a calm outlook to the outfit.

Outfit details:

Cream Boots - Charlotte Russe - Not in stock

3. Pink Lady

This outfit is alot more '50's rock chic' reminding me of the pink ladies from 'Grease'. With this style you can make vibrant pinks look more casual incorporating a leather jacket to injecting a bit of edge into an outfit. Blacks, whites and pinks can be mixed up in so many different ways to give an effortless edgy impression.

Latest Purchases

I haven't gone shopping in what feels like forever, however, as a reward for passing my A-Levels me and my chummy decided to go on a little trip to the mall.

Stripey Long Sleeve Top - Primark - £4
Triangle Cut Out Necklace - Primark - £2.50
Black Ankle Lenght Leggings - New Look - £7.99

My focus of this shopping trip was to get some essential items in for autumn. The weather is starting to get colder so it is definately time for the autumn wardrobe to make a gradual appearence.

I absolutely love stripes but have always been cautious with buying them however i found this top in primark and loved it instantly, it is such a simple piece of clothing yet can be styled in so many various ways. Its also soft against your skin which is perfect if you ask me. An added bonus i found was that it is similar to Amy Ponds shirt in Doctor Who so ,with the added bonus of a possible cosplay, how could i resist?

The black leggings arn't exactly the most interesting item to display however they are a definate must have in my wardrobe. After ripping a hole in a pair of mine i needed a replacement.

Finally onto the last item. The triangle cut out necklace. I saw this online, when i was browsing the Primark website, putting together outfits in my head, as we all do, and decided that i had to purchase it to wear over jumpers. Also i have no long necklaces so this was a definate must buy! I love the fact that its in gold as it matches the Autumn season completely.

All i need now is a burgandy jumper and some chelsea boots and i'm set.

Autumn 2014 hurry up!

Denim On Denim Back In Trend?

So denim on denim has come back in trend! A once believed fashion crime is now becoming a fashion trend! However it is a risky trend to follow.

Done correctly you can look amazing like Cara Delevigne or Rhianna. Done badly you will just look like a mishmash of denim scraps! So i thought i would show you guys how i would dress denim on denim.

A simple way of dressing denim on denim is a combo of skinny denim jeans, a denim shirt, heels and a statement necklace, i have also added some bangles to my wrist.

Majoity of these items are a few years old, from newlook, however here are some links to where you can get similar items:

LOOMBANDS!

So the new craze is Loom bands...and it has found me.

These cute bracelets have come into fashion. With endless possibilities of  creations, no wonder they are the new craze. Even Kate Middleton/Duchess of Cambridge is wearing them. Above me and my sister have created simple single bracelets. Unfortunately i do not own a loom so i cant do much :( they are still fun to make though. And guess what else i am getting...anybody remember scoobie doos? Not the dog...the plastic string that you could make tonnes of things from inc bracelets, key chains etc.

Are you enjoying the craze?

How To: Anna's Halo Braid (Frozen)

Halo Braid Crown

I absolutely love quirky hairstyles, something thats different to the normal down and loose. The halo braid is very vintagey and chic which i adore. Its also very cooling which is perfect for the summer. The style can be worn casual and elegantly and has even been shown in the hit Disney film Frozen. I have decided to create a halo braid crown tutorial to replicate Anna's hair during Elsa's Coronation. I havent done a bun however as i wanted the crown to be the focus. If you want to do a bun and crown put the hair into a bun and leave enough hair outside of the bun on both sides to do the crown with.

Creating A Halo Braid Crown:

Step 1:

Seperate you hair into two sections, plait each section so you have 2 plaits

Step 2:

Grab 1 section and bring it over your head, pin it in place.

Step 3:

Repeat step 2 with the other section

Step 4:

Make sure everything is pinned into place and you are good to go.

Outfit Inspiration: A Black Summer

My wardrobe is probably 65% black clothing. I adore wearing black! But when it comes to summer it contradicts with the whole 'bright colour' idea based around the seasons trends. But who says you have to wear bright colours? Don't change your style to fit the latest trends. Adapt the latest trends to fit around your style.

Below are 3 outfits i have created based around the colour black, i have injected some colour however i have kept it very simplistic. They can be adapted in so many various ways. Just be creative.

Outfit 1.

Bowler hat - Amazon / Choker - Created Myself / Black Crop T-Shirt - New Look/ Denim Shirt - Newlook/ Monochrome A-Line Skirt - New Look/ Monochrome Heels - New Look.

Outfit 2.

Black Crop T-Shirt - New Look / Aztec Maxi Skirt - Primark / Choker - Self Made/ Stud Flip Flops - New Look.

Outfit 3.

My Summer Wishlist

Why is it that during summer shops suddenly get amazing stock in? It's so bright and colourful, full of patterns and graphics. I don't know about you, but when i go online i always end up having so many tabs open on my phone purely because i like too much. However there are some items that stick out to me more than others. In fact i managed to reduce 62 tabs (yes, i know, it is a rather large amount, i have a online shopping problem clearly) to 10. So here is my Summer Wish List:

Below i have listed the item names and created links to the online pages:

My Holiday Make-Up!

After finishing my 1st year of A Level exams it is definitely time for a relaxing break away to get over all the exam stress. Lazing by the pool, reading a good book and then going out at night! And that is exactly what i am going to be doing...I'm going to Marbs!

Now I don't know about you but when i'm on holiday i tend to do the whole fresh skin, bare faced look during the day, but if i am going out at night i may slap on a bit of makeup. Nothing extreme though as personally i prefer the minimalist look. I find that the natural glow look is ideal on holiday so go for just mascara or mascara and liquid eyeliner. Rimmel is my favourite make-up brand so as a result i will be packing my Rimmel Extra Super Lash Mascara (8ml) and Rimmel Scandal Eyes Precision Micro Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner (1.1ml) . I also like to add a bit of colour to my lips so will be taking my MUA Power Pout Lipstick Crayon with me that has an orange-y pink pigment to it.

Of course i will need to make sure i look after my skin so i will be taking, or more like my sister will be packing, Factor 15 and Factor 25 as well as after sun SPF to stop me from getting skin damage from the sun and burning. Quick tip from the tanning booth place which my sister has just told me...wear higher factor sun cream because you still get the tan but you don't burn whereas most people wear low so they can tan but they still burn. Nobody likes being burnt and i sure don't want to be aching for the majority of my holiday. Not fun. For when i take off my makeup i will be using a small bottle of Simple eye Makeup remover, Cleanser wipes and moisturizer. I can suffer from dry skin so being in the suns hot rays for a week may dry my skin out quite a bit so i will need to keep it moist not only by drinking sufficient water but by using moisturizer.

And that is it for my Holiday Make-Up Bag. What do you guys take? Do you pack too much? Or do you keep it minimalist like me?

I Made A Choker

I have always loved chokers since i was a kid and the fact they have come back into fashion is probably one of my happiest moments to do with fashion. The 90's chokers are back!. To get on the fashion wagon i decided i would try out making my own simple choker. I will be trying a 90's one when i have the correct material later on. Heres the result:

I was pretty happy with this. It is possibly one of the easiest things to make so i don't need to create a tutorial. It is that simple!. I decided to use a moon charm as i love anything to do with space. I will probably be buying some charms to swap between for this chain including a jupiter charm i found on Etsy.

What you will need to make a simple choker:

  • A piece of string measured to your neck size (black)
  • An old chain (links seperated to create two sections that will be sewn to the string)
  • Black thread
  • A needle
  • A charm
  • A lighter ( to burn the thread once sewn - optional depending if you want a neat end)

The finished product (without burning)

I hope you guys found this post helpful, for those of you who go on and make them i'd love to see yours! So, if you feel like sharing, post them on instagram and tag #rachellablogs. I may even do a post showing them.

Thanks again for reading!

Hair Tips: How To Reduce Greasy Hair

Todays hair tips post is...

How to reduce greasy hair?

There are alot of tips on how you can get rid of grease including using various products. Luckily i don't get greasy hair fast. Infact i only have to wash my hair once a week! But if i wanted to i could leave it a week and a half before it gets greasy. Defo luck! But i have learnt some things to reduce greasy hair. These include:

1.

Don't wash your hair constantly otherwise you will be washing out all the natural oils which help your hair stay healthy. If you have to wash your hair, say every 2 days, then don't! Once it starts to get greasy chuck it up into a bun or pony tail, there are so many ways to disguise greasy hair. Do this for about 2-3 days and then wash your hair and eventually you will find your hair has become in better condition and you will be able to wash it less times a week keeping its healthy appearence longer.

2.

Another thing you could do to hide grease is to use Batiste dry shampoo. My twin, who isn't as lucky as me when it comes to hair grease, uses this to cover the grease to save washing her hair another day. It is actually pretty good and works well from what i can tell. Although you do have to rub it in enough otherwise it looks like you have dandruff.

3.

Finally i have a weird tip for you guys...sleep with talcum powder in your hair. My mum told me this ages ago as her cousin did it. Apparently it worked.

But theres 3 tips on how to reduce greasy hair. I hope you found it interesting/helpful. Thanks for reading sweeties!

Summer Sales!!!

It's rare nowadays that if i go online browsing, and theres a sale, that i won't end up buying something...or, more likely, some things.

The other day me and my mum sat online for hours browsing all the sale items on New Look, one of my favourite stores, preparing for my holiday...always an excuse to buy new clothes, she is also such a bad influence on my shopping. This lead to me having a rather large amount of items in my basket, but i did manage to reduce this down to 5. I also only spent £39! Saving £56! You have got to love sales! And today they arrived so here are my new buys:

New buys:

Blue 4.5 inch Cage Zipped Back Heels - £8
Monocrome Strappy High Vamp Heels - £10
Brown Lace Up Block Heel Boots - £8
Button Frontnt Crop Barlet Top - £5.99
Monocrome Tapestry A-Line Rose Skirt - £7

Due to it being summer, i had decided that i'm going to attempt to dress more brightly and step back from my comfort of black based outfits however i did find that i brought afew black based clothes so therefore have failed, ooops. But why not brighten up the outfits with bright jewellery, mabye a yellow fashion necklace, who knows! I did however manage to buy some bright blue heels that would bring a statement to outfits, along side my desperate need for new boots after my all time favourite black brouges have eventually taken their toll and worn out. R.I.P. I can't wait to put these into outfits!

Hair Tips: The Perfect Simple Top Knot

How to get a perfect simple top knot/bun?

Sometimes trying to get that perfect top knot can be hard, especially when you have little time. However, there is a way to do the hairstyle which creates a perfect simple top knot every time.

The process:

1. Flip your hair over your head and gather it into a pony tail. This helps create a high bun.

2. After gathering the hair, tilt your head back up so you are looking up to the ceiling. Twist the pony tail round so it is tight.

3. Wrap the hair around the base of the pony tail and tie it all together with a band and use crocodile clips to secure all those loose strands.

Hope this was helpful, even spent time drawing out a pictorial...it was harder and more time consuming than it seemed, helpful though. Next weeks hair tip will be about getting healthier looking hair. Don't miss it. Thanks Sweeties xox

London May Comic Con MCM 2014

This year I decided to attend the May London Comic Con MCM 2014 going both Saturday and Sunday. For those of you who don't know what London Comic Con MCM is, it is an exhibition full of geeks in cosplay buying merchandise, testing out games, meeting celebs, meeting youtubers and much more. But nothing I can say compares to the experience so I have created this video of the two days combined into 1. It was so awkward to film and I got some weird looks but its worth it. Maybe I should start vlogging? But anyway, Enjoy!.

Hair Tips | Make Your Hair Grow Faster!

So i'm creating a new section called 'Hair Tips'. The section was originally going to be posted every Tuesday but i found that i would fast run out of ideas to post about. Always a problem. So instead there will be Hair Tips posted now and again on the blog. Look out for them. But lets get on with it...here's my first 'Hair Tips' Post:

How to get your hair to grow faster?

I always have people say to me that they love my hair due to it length. My hair has always been long except the two times I decided I would have it cut above my chest height. It grows at a natural rate however after a dodgey hair cut, leaving me with terrible layers and it being rather short I wanted my hair to grow as fast as possible. This lead me to google, surprise surprise, where i came across this tip:

'Brushing your hair over your head stimulates the roots and promotes growth.'

Now i was curious of this as how can brushing your hair over your head make much difference? But after trying it i actually believe it works! My hair in january used to be chest height however now it is at my waist...thats 5 months growth. I no longer have extreamly dodgy layers and my hair is back to how i like it. So i recommend this tip greatly, there is no harm in trying it so why not give it a go ey?

I hope this post has helped some of you guys. Look out for my next 'Hair Tips Tuesday' post that will be up next week, I will be explaining how you can get a perfect top knot :).

My Collection: Perfume Passion

On top of my obsession with nails I have a love for different perfumes and body sprays. I'm also one of those people who get paranoid that they smell bad even when they don't! I just want to smell nice all the time!

When looking for a body spray or perfume I normally aim for one that is strong with a sweet smell to it! My perfume and body spray collection is currently made up of 14 different items! Who needs that amount of body spray/perfume at a time?

So today I'm going to show you guys my all time favourite perfumes. They are pretty easy to get a hold of!

NYC Fashion Week Inspired Nails : Half Moon

So the other day whilst looking at the Fashion Weeks going on around the globe I came across the nail art trends of the season. The nail arts trending currently, other than our typical daisy print nails which reoccur every year, include modern french manicures, 3D add ons, graffiti, ombre, stripes, sheer and finally the floating half moon. I decided to take the floating half moon and adapt it using the colours of the season and this was the result:
