MOTM: Berry Lips!

Its that time of the year again when leaves turn orange, brown and gold, falling to the floor and crumping under our feet, when the air is filled with the smell of smoke, when the evenings get darker and the mornings mistier. It's that time of the year that we call Autumn.

Autumn is probably my second favourite season after summer, what's not to love about it? okay, yes its colder and darker, that's something, but what about the positives. I just love snuggling up on the sofa in my duvet with a hot chocolate & a good book, currently I am reading Passion by Lauren Kate, a definite recommendation to all you book lovers!. However my favourite thing about Autumn is the fashion & beauty products! The designs, the colours, the style! I love it! I am especially loving the berry lipstick shades for this season. I don't normally wear lipstick but since autumn started I thought I might as well give it a go as this is the time makeup becomes more expressive and bold and adventurous. I now wear lipstick nearly on an every day basis, the MUA Shade 10 is defiantly the most adventurous one out of the lot for me, it really livens up your look bringing contrast to your makeup and your lips just pop!. Below is an image of all my favourite shades I have been wearing recently.

No.1 is called 'Asia' by Rimmel London
No.2 Modest Mauve by ANEW
No.3 Shade 10 - MUA

The pigment in these shades is amazing and they last for such a long time, in fact just getting it fully off my hand took a bit of scrubbing. They make your lips appear more purged and I found that Modest Mauve by ANEW is rather moisturising which is good if you tend to get dry lips, I know I do. I would definitely recommend you guys try them out! Go on! Get adventurous this Autumn!

How To: Pastel Rose & Stripe Nail Art

So as I've mentioned before I absolutely love nail art! I've always loved to try new designs & colours using inspiration from all sources. Recently I have been loving pastel colours (which is kind of delayed since they are pretty much the opposite of autumn colours) so attempted this design!

This design was inspired by my love for roses and pastels! It gives off a cute vintage look and is so simple to create! I concentrated on using a mixture of pinks and blues as I find they always look so nice together! This is probably my favourite nail art I have done yet. Previous nails arts include pokemon balls, space nails, polka dots, cheque, etc! So I decided that I would share it with you so heres a 'How To' on creating this nail art (side note: The pictures are of me doing my right hand using my left hand which is not my writing hand so it doesn't look as 'perfected')

Step 1:

Paint the base colours, I went for a pastel pink and a duck egg blue

Step 2:

Use a white nail art pen or brush to draw the lines over the pink. If you don't have a nail art pen used a normal fine paint brush or a sharp pencil you don't mind getting nail varnish on.

Step 3:

Add blobs of the original pink over the blue. It doesn't matter if they aren't even as long as they are roughly the same size.

Step 4:

Add blobs of a darker pink over and around the pastel pink, this will give the effect of additional petals.

Step 5:

Add smaller spots of a darker pink on top of the forming flower petals, this will give even more of an effect of various petals.

Step 6:

With a green nail varnish use the same equipment you used for the line drawing to draw the leaves on to the roses giving them their final form. If the roses appear too dark also add aspects of the pastel pink to them in tiny specs.

Step 7:

Cover the nail varnish with a clear coat, wait until its dried then clean the edges. After this you're good to go!

I hoped you liked this quick 'How To' blog post and i would love to see your response to this or even your own nail art. I may even make a post showing you guys my favourite ones. To send me an image of your nail art tweet me at @rachellablogs or email at rachellablogs@gmail.com

Thanks peeps! :)
