How To: Anna's Halo Braid (Frozen)

Halo Braid Crown

I absolutely love quirky hairstyles, something thats different to the normal down and loose. The halo braid is very vintagey and chic which i adore. Its also very cooling which is perfect for the summer. The style can be worn casual and elegantly and has even been shown in the hit Disney film Frozen. I have decided to create a halo braid crown tutorial to replicate Anna's hair during Elsa's Coronation. I havent done a bun however as i wanted the crown to be the focus. If you want to do a bun and crown put the hair into a bun and leave enough hair outside of the bun on both sides to do the crown with.

Creating A Halo Braid Crown:

Step 1:

Seperate you hair into two sections, plait each section so you have 2 plaits

Step 2:

Grab 1 section and bring it over your head, pin it in place.

Step 3:

Repeat step 2 with the other section

Step 4:

Make sure everything is pinned into place and you are good to go.

Outfit Inspiration: A Black Summer

My wardrobe is probably 65% black clothing. I adore wearing black! But when it comes to summer it contradicts with the whole 'bright colour' idea based around the seasons trends. But who says you have to wear bright colours? Don't change your style to fit the latest trends. Adapt the latest trends to fit around your style.

Below are 3 outfits i have created based around the colour black, i have injected some colour however i have kept it very simplistic. They can be adapted in so many various ways. Just be creative.

My Summer Wishlist

Why is it that during summer shops suddenly get amazing stock in? It's so bright and colourful, full of patterns and graphics. I don't know about you, but when i go online i always end up having so many tabs open on my phone purely because i like too much. However there are some items that stick out to me more than others. In fact i managed to reduce 62 tabs (yes, i know, it is a rather large amount, i have a online shopping problem clearly) to 10. So here is my Summer Wish List:

Below i have listed the item names and created links to the online pages:

My Holiday Make-Up!

After finishing my 1st year of A Level exams it is definitely time for a relaxing break away to get over all the exam stress. Lazing by the pool, reading a good book and then going out at night! And that is exactly what i am going to be doing...I'm going to Marbs!

Now I don't know about you but when i'm on holiday i tend to do the whole fresh skin, bare faced look during the day, but if i am going out at night i may slap on a bit of makeup. Nothing extreme though as personally i prefer the minimalist look. I find that the natural glow look is ideal on holiday so go for just mascara or mascara and liquid eyeliner. Rimmel is my favourite make-up brand so as a result i will be packing my Rimmel Extra Super Lash Mascara (8ml) and Rimmel Scandal Eyes Precision Micro Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner (1.1ml) . I also like to add a bit of colour to my lips so will be taking my MUA Power Pout Lipstick Crayon with me that has an orange-y pink pigment to it.

Of course i will need to make sure i look after my skin so i will be taking, or more like my sister will be packing, Factor 15 and Factor 25 as well as after sun SPF to stop me from getting skin damage from the sun and burning. Quick tip from the tanning booth place which my sister has just told me...wear higher factor sun cream because you still get the tan but you don't burn whereas most people wear low so they can tan but they still burn. Nobody likes being burnt and i sure don't want to be aching for the majority of my holiday. Not fun. For when i take off my makeup i will be using a small bottle of Simple eye Makeup remover, Cleanser wipes and moisturizer. I can suffer from dry skin so being in the suns hot rays for a week may dry my skin out quite a bit so i will need to keep it moist not only by drinking sufficient water but by using moisturizer.

And that is it for my Holiday Make-Up Bag. What do you guys take? Do you pack too much? Or do you keep it minimalist like me?

I Made A Choker

I have always loved chokers since i was a kid and the fact they have come back into fashion is probably one of my happiest moments to do with fashion. The 90's chokers are back!. To get on the fashion wagon i decided i would try out making my own simple choker. I will be trying a 90's one when i have the correct material later on. Heres the result:

I was pretty happy with this. It is possibly one of the easiest things to make so i don't need to create a tutorial. It is that simple!. I decided to use a moon charm as i love anything to do with space. I will probably be buying some charms to swap between for this chain including a jupiter charm i found on Etsy.

What you will need to make a simple choker:

  • A piece of string measured to your neck size (black)
  • An old chain (links seperated to create two sections that will be sewn to the string)
  • Black thread
  • A needle
  • A charm
  • A lighter ( to burn the thread once sewn - optional depending if you want a neat end)

The finished product (without burning)

I hope you guys found this post helpful, for those of you who go on and make them i'd love to see yours! So, if you feel like sharing, post them on instagram and tag #rachellablogs. I may even do a post showing them.

Thanks again for reading!

Hair Tips: How To Reduce Greasy Hair

Todays hair tips post is...

How to reduce greasy hair?

There are alot of tips on how you can get rid of grease including using various products. Luckily i don't get greasy hair fast. Infact i only have to wash my hair once a week! But if i wanted to i could leave it a week and a half before it gets greasy. Defo luck! But i have learnt some things to reduce greasy hair. These include:

1.

Don't wash your hair constantly otherwise you will be washing out all the natural oils which help your hair stay healthy. If you have to wash your hair, say every 2 days, then don't! Once it starts to get greasy chuck it up into a bun or pony tail, there are so many ways to disguise greasy hair. Do this for about 2-3 days and then wash your hair and eventually you will find your hair has become in better condition and you will be able to wash it less times a week keeping its healthy appearence longer.

2.

Another thing you could do to hide grease is to use Batiste dry shampoo. My twin, who isn't as lucky as me when it comes to hair grease, uses this to cover the grease to save washing her hair another day. It is actually pretty good and works well from what i can tell. Although you do have to rub it in enough otherwise it looks like you have dandruff.

3.

Finally i have a weird tip for you guys...sleep with talcum powder in your hair. My mum told me this ages ago as her cousin did it. Apparently it worked.

But theres 3 tips on how to reduce greasy hair. I hope you found it interesting/helpful. Thanks for reading sweeties!

Summer Sales!!!

It's rare nowadays that if i go online browsing, and theres a sale, that i won't end up buying something...or, more likely, some things.

The other day me and my mum sat online for hours browsing all the sale items on New Look, one of my favourite stores, preparing for my holiday...always an excuse to buy new clothes, she is also such a bad influence on my shopping. This lead to me having a rather large amount of items in my basket, but i did manage to reduce this down to 5. I also only spent £39! Saving £56! You have got to love sales! And today they arrived so here are my new buys:

New buys:

Blue 4.5 inch Cage Zipped Back Heels - £8
Monocrome Strappy High Vamp Heels - £10
Brown Lace Up Block Heel Boots - £8
Button Frontnt Crop Barlet Top - £5.99
Monocrome Tapestry A-Line Rose Skirt - £7

Due to it being summer, i had decided that i'm going to attempt to dress more brightly and step back from my comfort of black based outfits however i did find that i brought afew black based clothes so therefore have failed, ooops. But why not brighten up the outfits with bright jewellery, mabye a yellow fashion necklace, who knows! I did however manage to buy some bright blue heels that would bring a statement to outfits, along side my desperate need for new boots after my all time favourite black brouges have eventually taken their toll and worn out. R.I.P. I can't wait to put these into outfits!

Hair Tips: The Perfect Simple Top Knot

How to get a perfect simple top knot/bun?

Sometimes trying to get that perfect top knot can be hard, especially when you have little time. However, there is a way to do the hairstyle which creates a perfect simple top knot every time.

The process:

1. Flip your hair over your head and gather it into a pony tail. This helps create a high bun.

2. After gathering the hair, tilt your head back up so you are looking up to the ceiling. Twist the pony tail round so it is tight.

3. Wrap the hair around the base of the pony tail and tie it all together with a band and use crocodile clips to secure all those loose strands.

Hope this was helpful, even spent time drawing out a pictorial...it was harder and more time consuming than it seemed, helpful though. Next weeks hair tip will be about getting healthier looking hair. Don't miss it. Thanks Sweeties xox
